Buddy and Sunny Fitting Right In

Buddy and Sunny are now off and running. Over the past couple of months these two boys have definitely shown that they are now completely recovered from their challenges initially faced a year ago. Today Buddy is competing for the top of the big herd. It is funny watching the dynamics of the herd that they are a part of. Buddy has successfully got the mares in the herd on his good side and they handle all the dirty work for him. Not sure how he accomplished this but he definitely has established influence throughout the herd. Sunny on the other hand could care less about what goes on. He has a bad habit of "cribbing" which is all he cares about. Outside of that he minds his own business. Buddy has developed into his own personality that wants to be in the herd and has no cares about his people. If you want Buddy in the pasture, you have to go get Buddy in the pasture. Oh by the way, don't let him see a halter or a lead rope or you may just get ran over by every horse in the herd when he takes off running. Sunny carries a personality as I would like to compare to that of a pet dog that goes crazy when you come home from work. Often times Sunny will meet me at the gate of the pasture when I go out to see them. He gets spoiled because I never have to run him down. So when it is 10-15 minutes before feeding time and he meets me at the gate, Sunny often benefits by eating 10-15 minutes before the rest of the herd. At that time you can see Sunny antagonizing the herd because they are all waiting at the gate to come in while Sunny has a mouth full of food. Guess it is good to recognize the hand that feeds you.

The peace and tranquility that you find at RVR Horse Rescue or Heart 2 Heard is something that words do no justice. Finding peace in the eye of Buddy and Sunny is very easy. They have their personalities but when they understand where their security comes from they will all but jump in your arms. It is awesome to see the personality of these horses and their ability to comprehend just what it is that goes on inside your heart. It seems as if they already knew.
